What is the difference between the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version?

2018.10.01

On 32 bit operating systems, you can only install the 32-bit version.
On 64 bit operating systems, you can install either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version.

Advantage of the 64-bit version

  • As compared to the 32-bit version, performance improvement can be expected by expanding the usable memory area.

Limits of the 64-bit version

  • This cannot install on 32 bit OS.
  • 64-bit version doesn't support some communication types since some communication libraries don't support 64 bit architectures.
For example MELSEC EZSocket connection or SYSMAC FinsGateway connection. Please refer to the user's guide for details.
  • When using the SuiteLink interface, please use 32 bit version.

Notes

  • The 32-bit version and the 64-bit version cannot be coexisted.
  • When you install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit OS, the aplication runs on SysWOW64 without any problems.
